Readers had mixed views over the roll-out success of the Covid-19 vaccine in Cumbria.

We said that more than a third of north Cumbria’s eligible population have now been vaccinated for Covid-19.

109,956 vaccinations have been given at hospital hubs and through GP teams working together in Primary Care Networks.

GP lead for the Keswick and Solway Primary Care Network, Dr Richard Massey, said: "There has been a phenomenal effort from all of our General Practice teams across north Cumbria.

"Practices have worked together to administer vaccines as quickly as we have had supplies delivered.

"We haven’t had many people refusing the vaccine, in fact it has been the opposite with people keen to get as quickly as they are eligible.

"It has been brilliant to be involved in a programme on this scale and one where people are so happy to be called."

Figures from NHS England showed: 70,326 over 65s and 35,178 under 65s have had their first vaccine; 2,314 over 65s and 2,138 under 65s have had their second vaccine so 92.9% of the over 65 population in north Cumbria have had at least one dose of the vaccine.

Rebecca Wallace said: "I've had my first dose."

Anne Peebles Craig said: "My hubby is still waiting. Over 60 and my carer. Doctor has just said today no idea when he'll get it."

Lynn Taylor said: "I have had two letters, the last coming today decided I would try to book online only to find out I missed my last appointment. No one told me I had appointment or where and when it was. Think this is a delaying tactic so Government can give figures to show how many people have been offered the vaccine."

Carolann Campbell said: "I’m in group 4 with allergic reactions to meds - have been waiting for my GP to phone me back - two weeks the first time! And waiting again."

Fiona Mulholland said: "Must have been lucky. Received a letter and booked into Kendal today! The staff were superb and I managed to get the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine. I couldn’t fault the system."
