THE much-anticipated Annual Spring Kirkcambeck sale, held by C&D Auction Marts Limited, saw a 'fantastic' entry of traditional native bred cattle
The sale held last Saturday was held in conjunction with the Special Annual Spring Sale of Continental bred store cattle.
A full ringside of potential purchasers ensuring a serious trade throughout with vendors leaving delighted with their days trading.
Topping the sale was £1,180 for a Beef Shorthorn bullock from Claremont Properties, Hay Close, Penrith, who also sold Angus’ at £1,140.
Belted Galloway bullocks topped at £1,120 from J Hope, Orthwaite Hall, Wigton.
Many more could have been sold to vendors advantage, says C&D.
The next Kirkcambeck sale will be held in the autumn on Saturday, October 16 2021.
Continental bred store cattle sold exceptionally well for an entry of predominantly yearling grass cattle and were short of purchaser requirements.
Several lots sailed past £1,300 and topping at £1,440 on two separate occasions, firstly for a very classy Limousin cross steer consigned by M/s TV & M Storey, Tinnishall, Canonbie and secondly for a shapely Limousin cross heifer consigned from the same good home.
Some of the principal prices for breeding cattle include Limousin cow with bull calf £1,800 Blackcleugh. Angus Incalf Heifers £1,400, £1,350 Branxholm Braes. Simmental Incalf Heifers £1,400 Branxholm Braes. Simmental Bulling Heifers £1,100, £1,040, £1,030 Branxholm Braes. Luing Bulling Heifers £990 Bridge End.
