A MAN who died following an incident on the M6 motorway in Cumbria has been named by police.
Cumbria Police have confirmed that 50-year-old Derek Wroe, of Houldsworth Street, Stockport, died after his vehicle collided with the nearside barrier on the M6 south of junction 38 at Tebay.
The collision involved an Audi A5 and occurred on the northbound carriageway near Roundthwaite.
Emergency services attended the scene, and were told that witnesses reported a man - believed to be the driver of the Audi - had left the scene on foot, heading in the direction o the A685.
It was also reported that the man was involved with a collision with a vehicle on the A685 before leaving the area and heading towards Tebay fellside.
Following a search, the man was found in a nearby river. He was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle, but sadly died.
