RESEARCH has shown that 60 per cent of people in the north west, would test positive for Covid antibodies, the highest in the country.
The Office of National Statistics has revealed the data in its Coronavirus Infection Survey - Antibody and Vaccination Data for the UK.
According to the report the statistics, based on blood test, suggests that these people have "had the infection in the past or have been vaccinated".
In England as a whole the figure is 54.7 per cent of those that gave a blood sample in the week ending March 14.
The figure for Scotland stands at 42.6 per cent and Northern Ireland it stands at 49.3 per cent.
A spokesman for the Department of Health & Social Care said: "A test cannot tell you if you’re immune to Coronavirus."
He added: "There is no strong evidence yet to suggest that those who have had the virus develop long-lasting immunity that would prevent them from getting the virus again."
