Go Ape has reopened its high rise fun in the trees and woodlands at Whinlatter and Grizedale.

The outdoor adventure reopened its doors on March 29, in line with the latest restrictions that had eased.

Updates have been posted on the Go Ape site about how they have been able to reopen safely the measures that are in place to keep people safe.

What has Go Ape said?

A post on the website said: "As a Covid- 19 Secure outdoor activity, Go Ape falls within the ‘exceptions in relation to outdoor gatherings’ and are able to safely operate.

"Pre-booking is essential. Group sizes are limited to six people or two households. For booking queries visit our FAQ's. Hand washing facilities are provided at site and social distancing rules must be followed at all times.

"We would like to thank you for your ongoing support and understanding."

Can we bring spectators?

The current government guidance under which Go Ape are operating does not allow for spectators, except for supervisors and carers. The forest itself is a public location and there are plenty of other places to walk, play or sit and have a coffee whilst they wait for you to finish your adventure.

Can you book for more than six people?

This is what the website says:

Groups of 6 or fewer can book online. To make a booking for more than 6 people, you will need to call us on 01603 895500 and ensure your group complies with the following government guidance:

  • If you have more than 6 people in your household or with two households combined, you are able to visit but will need to ensure you maintain a safe social distance from anyone that you do not live with.
  • We can welcome larger groups from Covid Secure Organisations, such as schools or work colleagues within their own support bubbles, so long as the guidance around social distancing is adhered to.

Should I wear a face mask and gloves?

"The Government does not recommend the wearing of face coverings in the outdoors. If you feel more comfortable wearing a face covering then you are able to do so at Go Ape, but we do not recommend it as it may become tangled when moving through the course, cause additional exhaustion through breathing in and out and affect your overall enjoyment," the website states.

"We do recommend wearing gloves (i.e woollen) for comfort and for hand protection whilst on tree top courses. Feel free to either bring your own, or pre-order from a selection of our gloves and collect from us on arrival."

My household group is more than 6. Can we all come?

Yes. A single household group of more than six people including anyone in their support bubble, can book and participate as one bubble.
