A BOOST in numbers for Wasdale Mountain Rescue team as the welcome new members into the fold.
More than a year in probation the team put the new members to the test at one of the most notorious spots they visit. Pier Gill is a steep ravine located close to Scafell Pike.
In the past it has been the location of a number of serious incidents and even fatalities.
But the seven new members showed off their impressive skills on Saturday.
A spokesman for the team said: "The team spent the day training round one of our blackspots. As the culmination exercise for our 2020 intake of probationers this was a mixture of important familiarisation of one of the team’s most notorious and difficult to access areas, along with an assessment of the skills that each of them have learnt.
"We are pleased to say they impressed, and we are extremely proud to welcome seven new full team members to our rank."
