MAGISTRATES in Carlisle have imposed jail terms on four men for failing to pay outstanding fines.
Mark Clark, of George Street, Whitehaven, who owed £1,470 since April of 2016, was jailed for 35 days. Also jailed - in his case for 10 days - was Kyle Robert Crawford, 25, of Balmoral Court, Etterby, Carlisle. Hhis £277 fines debt dated back to February, 2019, the court heard.
A 12-day jail term was imposed on Graham Paul Carruthers, 55, of Aglionby Street, Carlisle. He failed to pay a £402 fine, imposed in January, 2015. The final jail term - for a week - was for Ian Davidson, 33, of Lowther Street, who owed £170.
That fine was imposed in 2018.
