READERS have reacted to possible plans to let holidaymakers jet off to a handful sun-kissed European hotspots this month.

The European Commission has proposed to ease restrictions on travel to countries in the bloc Covid-19 after mass vaccination campaigns get underway and lower levels of infection.

And the UK government’s “green list” of countries to which people can travel without having to isolate for 14 days on their return is expected to be released this week, although it is understood details are still being finalised.

Boris Johnson has said some foreign travel from the UK will be able to go ahead from mid-May.

The Prime Minister said there will be “some opening up” on 17 May when the next step of his roadmap comes into effect – but that the approach to international travel in the summer should be cautious so “an influx of disease” can be avoided.
