International restaurant giants Hard Rock Cafe will open their doors in a new location less than an hour away from Carlisle later this month.
The new café, which will be the first Hard Rock location in the North East of England, is set to open in Newcastle at the Quayside’s Guildhall.
Spread over two floors in the Grade I listed building, the popular chain is set to be able host 180 people and it’ll also feature a unique ‘Whey Aye Burger’ on its menu to pay homage to the North East city.
The burger is set to feature Northumberland cheese, Newcastle Brown Ale onion compote, cheddar cheese and pease pudding beignet as well as horseradish cream with a spring onion with the meal being served in a toasted charcoal and sesame seed bun.
Readers chipped in with a wide range of responses with many planning their trip in haste.
That said, there were some readers who, equally, are now calling for the venue to in our region.
Helen Etherington said: "Our visit to Glasgow was great. Fab food."
Jan Gigli was also looking forward to a trip, vowing to visit soon. She said: "Definitely getting a visit from us."
Rob Peart stated: "Can't wait to try the ‘Whey Aye Burger.’"
Another reader was in less positive tone and stated that the famous American chain should set up shop in Cumbria next.
Sara Burgess led the charge for the chain to next commit to opening a restaurant in our region.
She vowed: "Why can’t we have one though? Plenty of empty units, the amount of money people from Carlisle must put into other cities, Carlisle could thrive if given the opportunity to."
Another reader was in full agreement and said: We need things like this in Carlisle, not an hour from here."
Carol Caulfield added: "There’s plenty of empty buildings in Carlisle that could have been a Hard Rock Cafe instead of travelling an hour away."
