READERS of the News & Star hit out at "inconsiderate parking" which has prevented emergency services from accessing parts of the Lake District and halted Stagecoach services on certain routes.

Stagecoach has suspended the 77 and 77A services around Catbells due to ‘inconsiderate parking and heavy congestion’ as the tourist season began in earnest in the Lake District.

The company said that the route was blocked by cars making passing impossible.

Dan Harding said: "The council should tow these vehicles and charge £500 to get them back."

Leona Borthwick said: "I was up catbells at 8am this morning, got the last parking space just by the bottom! When we left around 9.30/10am it was so busy people parked on the yellow lines and the grass verges."

Catherine Penrice said: "Ridiculous behaviour of people and tour buses parking outside Patterdale yesterday making manoeuvring around them very dangerous we got there at 8am when things were quiet what a shock we got on our return back to the car"

Chris McClelland said: "I drove over Honister down to Buttermere yesterday it was absolute carnage."

Quentin de Graaf said: "It's the same everywhere you go."

Mary Dixon said: "Well some drivers just think they can park wherever they like till they get a ticket."

But Nic Barnes said: "The roads need to be wider and more car parks built. It’s an easy solution but people want to blame someone for parking on a verge instead."
