Readers have shared their delight as a new business enters The Lanes shopping centre in Carlisle.

Karl Harvey has masterminded the rise of the plastic-free whole foods company Re:plenish during trying circumstances, having started the company in November 2020 alongside his partner.

The business aims to bring a new, sustainable concept to The Lanes.

The Lanes have been very supportive of Karl as his venture makes the landmark transition to a store after joining the high street.

Following the departure of Debenhams from The Lanes, which is expected to be followed by H&M, the news that a new business would be arriving at the shopping centre was welcomed by readers.

Here’s what you had to say:

Emma Kidd McLaughlin said: “A huge good luck to them and I hope it works out.”

Re:plenish already has a shop in Brampton that sells organic, plant-based whole foods, like cereal, grains, herbal tea, nuts, pasta, pulses, rice, seasoning, seeds.

Late last month, The Lanes Director, David Jackson announced his retirement after 21 years at the shopping centre.

David’s replacement is Mark Nott who took over the role of centre manager.

David is looking forward to retirement and to spending more time with family, including his three grandchildren.

The whole team at the Lanes wished him a happy retirement and said they would miss him dearly.

His last role was as centre manager of St David’s shopping centre in Cardiff.
