A charity needs sponsors for a new centre.
Pride in North Cumbria (PiNC) is a charity working to support young LGBTQ+ people in Cumbria and provides safe spaces for young people while organising projects and community events that champion diversity, equality and community mindedness.
The charity is looking for sponsors to support a unique centre for art, community and youth culture in the heart of Carlisle and will be open from July 2021 to January 2022.
Stevie Westgarth works for Pride in North Cumbria and said: "We have visiting exhibitions provided to us by the Museum of Youth Culture and the Youth Club Archives, images of 100 years of culture including music, fashion, interiors and social movements.
"A pop up shop will sell local and UK made art, fashion, books and other relevant merchandise.
"We have local businesses such as Bookends book shop and creatives from across the UK looking to support us by providing interesting and unique stock that would not otherwise be found in the county.
"This collective effort of support is destined to create a one of a kind, never before seen space for Carlisle for 2021!
"We also have a space to host workshops, talks and wellness events for our community.
"We want this to be the beating heart at the centre of a cultural celebration, exactly what we all need after a long year of isolation and lockdown.
"We are looking for local businesses and people to help us raise the £10,000 we need to pay the rates, a staff member and set up, plus £2500 to pay Carlisle City Council for business rate fees.
"If you are able to become a sponsor to this amazing community project we can offer you advertising from the city centre venue, logos on all promotion and social media and special mention in all publicity via newspaper, TV and radio, plus, you become part of something new and exciting for Cumbria!"
