TODAY marks five years since Britain voted to leave the EU.
After a long period of negotiations, the UK finally left the union at midnight on December 31 2020.
Almost 285,000 Cumbrians voted in the 2016 referendum, with only South Lakeland coming out for remain.
Allerdale, Carlisle, Eden, Copeland and Barrow all voted to leave. 62 per cent of voters in Copeland backed leave - the highest in the county.
