Readers have been responding to a story covering the proposed changes being made to Carlisle Railway Station.
In a vision proposed to Carlisle City Council, platform resurfacing works could be undertaken at platforms two and three.
In plans, Network Rail said: "The station is Grade ll* listed and is of high significance as a historic railway building and one of the most important early major railway stations in Britain.
"The platform construction, copings and surfacing are highly significant as they date from the original construction.”
In a letter submitted to the city council Jo Jebb, representative of Avanti West Coast, said that the platform refurbishments would ensure the new platform surfaces meet current industry standards.
Here's what you had to say.
Colin Charnock said: "Typical, County Council can’t wait to blow all the borderlands money, be better putting a couple of inches of tarmac on all the roads which are turning into farm tracks.
Jennifer Graham said: "Needs something done for it to be more practical for users.
"Nightmare."
Caroline Jane said: "No problem with making the platforms safer, but Carlisle is one of the stations that has remained just that, and not a shopping mall.
"Newcastle is now a right mess with the listed portico lined in plastic sheeting so that they can cram a few more coffee stalls in.
"Carlisle needs to stay authentic."
Denise Wallace said: "Can you not leave our beautiful buildings alone, Carlisle is a historic city not a modern monstrosity."
