In-form Cumbrian Oliver Dustin has sealed his place at this summer's Olympic Games.
The Workington athlete booked his ticket to Tokyo in a thrilling 800m final.
Dustin was pipped for victory by Elliot Giles by the tiniest margin in the dramatic race at the Müller British Championships in Manchester.
But Dustin's performance, at 1:45.12, guaranteed that he will be on the plane to Japan with the Team GB squad.
The 20-year-old finished just a hundredth of a second behind Giles as the pair pulled narrowly clear of Daniel Rowden in a hotly-contested race.
It came after Dustin's earlier victory in Saturday's heat.
The Cumbrian's progress to the Olympics is the latest step in Dustin's stunning year on the track.
The Border Harriers star, coached by Graeme Mason, recently smashed Sebastian Coe's British under-23 record at 800m in Nice - a mark which had stood since 1978 - moving him to sixth in Britain's all-time outdoor rankings.
Only Coe, Steve Ovett, Steve Cram, Peter Elliott and Andrew Osagie have run faster outdoors than the rising Cumbrian star, whose time of 1:43.83 is the fastest outdoors in the world this year.
The run in France also saw Dustin break Chris McGeorge’s Cumbrian record as the Birmingham University student hit the athletics spotlight.
He is already a European Under-20 champion after his victory in Sweden in 2019.
