Keswick Mountain Rescue Team were called out to Castle Cragg in Borrowdale on Sunday.
This followed an incident where a man had slipped on loose scree whilst descending the hill with his wife.
A spokesperson from Keswick MRT said: "This resulted in cuts and bruises above one eye along with cuts and a half grapefruit-sized haematoma on his forearm."
The couple were unaware how severe the man's injuries were so called Mountain Rescue along with Great North Air ambulance.
After assessing the man's injuries the Mountain Rescue Team took the necessary actions.
A short while later the man made a recovery and was able to walk back down the rest of the way with assistance.
The spokesperson said: "The man was transferred to hospital in his own car and was then taken to hospital by his wife for a check over.
