An art exhibition displaying the delights of Maryport’s beauty spots is set to take place.
The Settlement, Castle Hill, will feature four local artists and is vying to offer talents from the region the chance to reflect their own environment with a push to highlight the beauty of the area to tourists from further afield.
Featured in the Art n’ Soul of Maryport exhibition will be Maryport’s Hilary Whiteside Swan, who has gained a dedicated following and acclaim for her unique depictions of Maryport’s most-loved sights.
Alongside Hilary Whiteside Swan will be well-established artists Cobey Foster, Alan Roper and Jackie Ostle.
Hilary expressed her delight at the upcoming exhibition and the chance to showcase some local, burgeoning talent.
She said: “Since lockdown, I have been painting the streets of Maryport. There were two exhibitions cancelled, but I got friendly with Jackie and she has a studio at the Settlement. We soon realised we should put on an exhibition there.
“I really wanted this to be about West Cumbria. There are so many people who are enthusiastic about this kind of thing and we’re looking forward to seeing what kind of response we will get.
“Local artists, local things for local people. We’d love people to join in and come and have a day of it!”
Many originals exhibited are for sale, some are just for viewing purposes.
The exhibition will take place from July 16 to 18 from 11am to 6pm at the Settlement at Castle Hill.
