A new cafe is set to open at a popular Cumbria venue this week.
The Crofton Hall Coffee Shop is the latest venture in the region from the former owners of The Plough Inn, Wreay, and will open for business today, subject to Covid restrictions.
The owner confirmed that the new venue will pay homage to its roots, with the new menu offering some old favourites from The Plough Inn, alongside full English breakfasts, cakes and afternoon teas.
Owner Jane Kirby stated her delight at the new project and added her optimism: “Our intention was to renew our lease, but due to Covid, it felt best if we looked for a new venue. We did really well at the Plough and we were top of TripAdvisor, winning awards and so we were devastated when we had to leave.
“My son suggested we looked at a coffee shop where we could do some of the dishes we did at The Plough with nice food on a weekly specials board also.
“In a way we’re a bit more than a coffee shop, but not quite a restaurant.”
She stated that she hopes that the new cafe can become a destination for people and can benefit from the beautiful surroundings.
“We’re really pleased to be in Crofton. It’s a lovely space with a country feel to it.
“It’ felt perfect for us. It’s been a long year, but we’re so excited for our grand opening.”
The cafe is fully Covid-19 safe with locally sourced, homemade food.
