A WORKINGTON-born Olympic hopeful could lose his spot at the Tokyo 2020 Games after cocaine was found in a drugs test sample, according to reports in national newspapers.
Cumbrian Oliver Dustin sealed his place at this summer's games just last month after a second-placed finish at the Müller British Championships in Manchester.
However, the Times have now claimed that a metabolite for cocaine was found in a sample from his time in France, putting his place on the plane in doubt.
The article states Dustin may claim his sample was contaminated - but it would be difficult to prove that in time for the start of the games on July 23.
According to the Sun, Dustin's agent, Stephen Haas said calling the incident a positive test was "not factual at this point."
The News & Star has reached out to Mr Dustin, who declined to comment and said a statement would be provided in due course.
