A CUMBRIAN ghost-hunter has been travelling the UK searching for the country’s most haunted places.

Louis Davison of Workington looks for ghosts and spirits in abandoned buildings and other unsettling places for material for his You Tube channel – and it’s gathering quite a lot of attention.

Mr Davison said: “Most of the places that I visit are old abandoned houses that have been left untouched since the 1960s.

“Lots of the places still have original features and objects from the time that they were left.”

Louis says that he has been to about 200 different places across the country that are said to be haunted.

He decided to start the YouTube channel after suffering from depression, and his hobby gave him something else to focus his attention on.

“When I go to these places it feels like I’ve left the real world and gone back in time,” he says.

Some of the locations that Louis has featured in his videos include St Peter’s Church in Camerton and the Carnegie Theatre in Workington.

Louis and his team were told that the church is the most haunted place in the area so they decided to go at night.

“We were asking the spirits questions and getting responses through our voice recorder,” he said.

“It was as clear as day.”

His most frightening experience was while visiting a mass burial grave for victims of the Black Death.

Louis explores most of these places with his girlfriend Francesca and they are sometimes joined by his friend Russell.

Louis’ family were initially sceptical of his new hobby as they thought it would be dangerous – but have recently started to come round to the idea.
