The north Cumbrian branch of a national learning disability charity is encouraging healthy eating and living recently as part of a UK-wide pilot project.
The project, Healthier Me, was rolled out by Mencap UK and has been taken on board by members of Carlisle Mencap.
Members of Carlisle Mencap have been getting stuck in with the project by growing their own fruit and vegetables, testing out healthy recipes and creating a short film.
The group have been rolling their sleeves up and getting their hands dirty by growing their own vegetables, like peas and onions and using them in healthy recipes, like vegetable stir fry and spaghetti bolognaise.
England Mencap received £3015 to be part of ‘A Healthier Me’ – a project spearheaded by Mencap nationally.
