POLICE have been forced to step up patrols at a church following reports of drug use.
Cumbria Constabulary have revealed there has been a rise in anti-social behaviour a St Andrew's Chuchyard in Penrith.
The Anglican church on St Andrew's Place in the town is a popular landmark - but officers have even seized cannabis from individuals there in recent weeks.
A spokesman for the force said: "Following concerns from local residents, our officers have increase their patrols in and around the area of St. Andrew's Church.
"Reports have concerned ongoing antisocial behaviour at specific times of the day. On one of the patrols, a group of individuals were subject of a stop and search enquiry resulting in a small quantity of cannabis seized. Patrols will continue. We would encourage local people to keep reporting information so we can continue to take positive action."
