A MAN has been remanded in custody after he denied a charge of stalking.
Callum Johnson, 21, of Lowther Street, Carlisle, appeared at the city's magistrates' court at Rickergate on Saturday, July 17.
He faced one charge of stalking relating to alleged incidents between July 1 and July 16.
The court heard that Johnson's course of conduct allegedly caused the victim serious alarm or distress, and had a substantial adverse effect on her usual day-to-day activities. He is accused of approaching the female victim repeatedly at her workplace, trying to engage her in conversation and trying to hug her.
Johnson was remanded in custody until July 22, when a bail application will be made. A trial is likely to take place on September 9. The defendant has elected a summary trial by Magistrates.
