A giant dinosaur could be seen walking the Earth again.

'Blue' the velociraptor has arrived in Cumbria from the USA - and people will soon be able to get up close and personal with the feared predator.

Dinosaur Encounter Cumbria has acquired the impressive 13-foot long animatronic, which was custom-made by professional technicians and engineers in America, from the same supplier which does work for Universal Studios.

'Rangers' from the Workington-based company will take the velociraptor on tour and teach facts about the majestic creature, while commanding it to do tricks and pose for photos.

Encounters will be offered in people's gardens or on their street and local venues can also be recommended for people hire and host a special event with Blue.

The company will cater for birthdays, school visits, outdoor festivals and businesses.

The robotic dinosaur is like those used in the Jurassic World ride at the Universal Studios theme parks across the Atlantic, inspired by the hit film of the same name.

Just like the animatronics used in films and on displays at the National History Museum in London, New York, and select theme parks, Blue looks very realistic.

However, like the dinosaurs featured in the Jurassic Park films, Blue is much bigger than a real velociraptor - which scientists believe were similar in size to a turkey.
