An 81-year-old man slipped on wet rock during his descent off High Rigg.
Unable to continue his friends dialed 999 and asked for Mountain Rescue help.
Keswick Mountain Rescue were called out at 12.54pm on Wednesday August 18 and deployed two vehicles to the area with other members going direct.
Team doctors were quickly able to assess the casualty and, suspecting a broken ankle, gave the man some pain relief before splinting it.
The man was then stretchered to one of the team vehicles and transported on to Keswick cottage hospital.
