Borough councillor arrested and charged after incident
OFFICERS have arrested and charged an elected councillor after an incident at the weekend.
Cumbria Police said: “Officers of Cumbria arrested a 59-year-old man in the vicinity of Washington Street in Workington, shortly before 1am on Sunday.”
Allerdale Borough councillor Will Wilkinson, of Duke Street, Workington, was subsequently charged with being drunk and disorderly in a public place and obstructing a police constable. He has been bailed to appear at Workington Magistrates’ Court on 3 September, 2021.
Councillor Wilkinson declined to comment on the ongoing incident.
