A much-loved events space in Carlisle city centre will re-open for its first show in over a year, putting months of previous uncertainty about the venue's future to bed.
The Old Fire Station in Carlisle is set to welcome visitors back to the venue for a live gig next month.
The owners took to social media to hail the popular space's return, stating: "Let's celebrate the return of live music at the OFS! Blues Jam is back on Sunday 19th September. Headlined by Redfish and featuring a range of talented blues artists. This is the first Jam for 18 months, so let's make it a big one. £6 on the door."
Since 2012, the Fire Station has played host to countless gigs, as well as including space for workshops, studios, offices and more. As well as gigs, the station is also vital to the city’s artists and other creative types.
One band that has performed at the Old Fire Station on multiple occasions is Carlisle’s own Hardwicke Circus.
Lead singer Jonny Foster expressed his hopes the station would reopen during the period of uncertainty for the venue – and paid tribute to council arts officer Stephen Dunn.
He said: “We’ve played the Fire Station, we’ve headlined it three times over the past couple of years. It’s one of the pillars of the creative city.
“It’s a venue we’re lucky to have, and have played at, and watched some of my favourite and most exciting acts right here in Carlisle.
“Steve Dunn has done an incredible job providing a unique space."
