These thefts include

• On Saturday August 21 at around 11.35pm at Whitesyke Business Park, Longtown two caravans were taken, and damage caused to two fences. Officers want to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the theft or who has dashcam around the time in the area or near the A7.

• On Friday August 27 between 11pm and 8am on August 28 a caravan was taken from Kingstown, Carlisle

A police spokesperson said “Enquiries are ongoing into each of these incidents and we would encourage anyone with any information to contact us.

“We would like to remind the public there are simple steps that they can take to protect their property, such as locks, security lights or cameras to deter opportunists.”

In a message posted on social media, a relative of one victim said: "My grandparents caravan has been stolen... from Kingstown, from their driveway... They have cut the security post out, cut off all the wheel locks and have cut through all the cables charging the batteries!

"The track marks on the grass looks like it’s been loaded onto a flatbed or loader.

The make, model and colour of the caravan is a “Swift Alpine 4” in white with one gold stripe and one silver stripe (seen in picture below) and with a blue front window protector on...We have the VIN number of the caravan and the inside has been modified so is not standard, and is easily identified, there are also stickers from the “caravan and camping club” and “caravan and motorhome club” in the front window.

"Inside contains a blow up awning that is grey and black, the curtains inside are grey with black patterned lines and is full of cutlery."
