An establishment with an impeccable reputation, Jill Glencross Independent Funeral Directors are delighted to commemorate 3 years in business on October 8th and are looking forward to a bright and prosperous future for years to come.

Jill Glencross, who runs and owns the funeral directors in Dalston, Carlisle has years of experience and a huge passion for taking care of families. She expressed her delight at celebrating 3 years on 8th October as a thriving multi-award winning established business.

Situated in the beautiful village of Dalston, Carlisle and providing a friendly, personal, caring and professional service 24 hours a day like no other, Jill and her team understand better than anyone the difficulties and challenges that come with coping with bereavement and through strong expertise, dedication, compassion and excellent management skills, they can arrange the perfect funeral for you and your loved ones, every time.

Jill stated "The business has grown so quickly, and I would say we are the busiest funeral directors in Carlisle now, but I think a lot of it is to do with reputation and attention to detail. Being independent and female is a significant factor too. I am absolutely thrilled that the business is thriving”.

When Jill opened the business in 2018 the first thing she did was become accredited. With the business being unregulated this was a huge thing to Jill who is now the only funeral director in Carlisle accredited by both the NAFD and SAIF. It is like a 5-star rating in the funeral industry.

Jill said “I never would have thought I would have set up my own business and as it was such a quick turnaround at the time after working in pathology for 24 years and training as a funeral director with Walker’s on Wigton Road (part of the DIGNITY chain), my head said are you absolutely mad, but my heart said just go for it and it has been the best decision I have ever made and I am extremely proud of everything my team and myself have achieved”.

When Jill first opened the business her mum and dad (Margaret and Mike Brown) helped out a lot answering calls and Jill’s dad going on the ‘coffin run’ to collect new coffins. Mike loved helping out. He sadly passed away very suddenly on Friday 20th August this year and Jill wanted to dedicate this piece and her three years anniversary achievement to him. Michael Brown 1946-2021.

Jill and her team can and will do whatever ever you wish. Nothing is ever too much trouble, and they will always go above and beyond to get things right. No request is too big or small for Jill and her professionally tight-knit team as they deliver a truly personal and highly detailed service.

Working closely with Golden Charter, Jill provides funeral plans also. All of their plans guarantee to provide the funeral director’s services specified at no extra cost to you or your family, no matter how much these costs rise in the future.

Awards/Accreditations

It is no real surprise that last year the business was awarded New Business of the Year at the 2020 in the In Cumbria Business Awards, this year Peter Watson was awarded Employee of the Year for the Northwest Region 2021 by Golden Charter and that they are also up for another award this year which is Best Professional Services Team with the In Cumbria Business Awards. The business continues to progress and thrive.
