WHITEHAVEN man Danny Hodgson has opened his eyes for the first time in weeks after being attacked in Perth earlier this month, it has been reported.
Danny's friend Steve Burton spoke to the BBC earlier today about the former Carlisle United star's progress.
He said: "The surgeons are pretty happy with his progress he is actually responding to commands, he is actually squeezing hands.
"He has opened his eyes which is amazing, his girlfriend who I spoke to earlier said he opened his eyes for about 20 minutes and is responding to commands which is slow but awesome progress."
Burton also told the BBC that Danny's parents will finally be able to be at their sons bedside on Friday after their mandatory quarantine.
Hodgson was seriously injured after an alleged unprovoked attack close to a train station in Perth on earlier this month, after having spent the day with team-mates.
A 15-year-old boy has been charged with grievous bodily harm and will appear in court in Perth on September 22.
