A THIRTY-one-year-old north Cumbrian man is to face a trial at Carlisle's Rickergate court over two alleged sex offences - outraging public decency and engaging in a sex act in front of a child.

Christopher Peter Scott, who is of no fixed abode, is said by prosecutors to have committed the offences at Silloth on Thursday, September 9. He allegedly committed a sex act in front of a ten-year-old.

He denies both allegations.

Appearing before the court via a video link from Durham Prison, where he is being held on remand, the defendant spoke only to confirm his personal details.

His defence lawyer John Smith said there would be no application for his client's release on bail.

Magistrates adjourned the case for a trial, which is due to take place at the Rickergate court on October 19.

Scott was remanded in custody.
