All BBC regional versions of BBC One will be going high definition.
BBC One HD for the North East and Cumbria will go live on 21 October.
The high-definition version of the channel will allow those with a HD set top box to enjoy programming in much higher image quality. In a strategy document released in March, the BBC stated they want to "enhance” the experience of viewers.
The BBC have introduced HD channels for many regions across the country, covering Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
