ALLERDALE Borough Council is encouraging residents to have their say on the future of sport and leisure provision in the borough.
The consultation comes ahead of the end of the current leisure services contract with GLL in March 2024 and is designed to inform future provision of leisure and sports activities after this date so that it continues to meet the needs of local residents.
GLL currently manages the council’s sporting facilities in Workington, Maryport, Cockermouth and Keswick.
The survey comes at a time when the council are looking to redevelop new leisure facilities in Keswick.
Cllr Tony Markley said: “We know how important leisure and sporting activities are for peoples’ physical health as well as their mental wellbeing. We live in an area with an abundance of opportunities to take part in a whole range of leisure activities. And we now have this opportunity to review how people are accessing these sports and leisure activities in Allerdale so that we can start to plan for the future.
“So, if you attend one of the activities on offer in our leisure centres, are part of a local club, go for regular walks in the park, or go out on a bike now and then, we want to hear from you.”
To have your say, residents should go online before October, 24 at: https://bit.ly/3AvnvGv .
