Fomer Workington Comets racer Craig Cook will step in for Peterborough in their grand final decider with Belle Vue at Alwalton this evening.
The West Cumbrian had decided to take a break from racing in August to focus on his mental health.
Promoter Chris Louis said his former club, the Ipswich Witches, were fully supportive of Cook.
Louis said: “Craig is currently struggling with his mental health that has plagued his career and needs to take some time out.
“Craig’s return to racing will be reviewed by the SCB and we fully understand his situation, wish him all the very best and hope to have him back in the team soon.
Now Cook, who watched the first leg in Manchester on Monday, will step in to help Peterborough in their first Grand Final at the top level since 2006.
Boss Rob Lyon said: “I’d like to welcome Craig into the side and thank him for agreeing to step in.
“We know what a good rider he can be and I’m confident he can do the job to help us get the result we need to become champions.”
The matchup between the Panthers and the Aces takes place at the Raceway at 7:30pm.
