THE Keswick Alhambra Cinema, which has undergone a major transformation and opened this week for the first time in nine months, is set to screen a Cliff Richard live show.
The latest James Bond film, No Time to Die, has dominated the schedule this week, but the cinema is keen to ensure that all tastes are catered for.
"What better event to bring in a more mature audience than a trip down memory lane and a live celebration of Cliff Richard's enduringly popular music," said co-owner Carol Rennie.
Sir Cliff Richard’s Great 80 Tour, featuring a selection of his greatest hits, will be broadcast live from the Royal Albert Hall to cinemas across the UK at 7.30pm on Wednesday, October 27, with an encore on the Saturday.
Carol said: "With a cosy new second screen, improved seating plan in the original century-old auditorium, reconfigured social spaces, cleaned and repointed facade, new windows, new signage, new heating, ventilation and wiring and full repainting and decorating, we are very much hoping that locals and visitors from far and wide will want to come and enjoy the fruits of their labour."
Ambleside Women's Institute also suggested that the Alhambra should help make a day of it in Keswick, by putting on a screening of Cliff Richard in his young days: the iconic 1963 musical film Summer Holiday. The cinema agreed.
