A Whitehaven school have announced plans to once again help spread Christmas cheer to children across the globe.

St James’ Church of England Infant and Nursery School will be taking part in the amazing Operation Christmas Child appeal again.

Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, a Christian international relief organisation. Their mission is to provide local partners around the world with shoeboxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ. They ship these simple gifts outside the United Kingdom to children affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine, and disease.

The school began taking part in the project last year. One teacher, Mrs Brown has already bought 100 of the special pre-printed shoeboxes for the school to fill. Parents have also been told that they can fill their own shoebox from home.

Pupils will be sent home with a leaflet explaining what families must do to take part. Families are free to fill as many boxes as you like. The deadline to bring in the shoeboxes is Monday 15th November.
