A North Cumbrian town is preparing to get scary with their popular Halloween Trail which they will be hosting again this year.

Wetheral Village and the Turnmire Common Committee are inviting families along to their 'Spooktacular' Pumpkin Trail and Scavenger Hunt.

The event will be taking place from Saturday 23rd October until Monday 1st November.

A spokesperson from the Committee said: "We are all set for our Spooktacular Halloween trail again this year.

"Thank you to everyone who has offered to be a part of the trail, we can’t run it without the support.

"We would love as many people as possible to still decorate their garden, window, house etc to make it another fantastic trail for the children.

"Last year we raised a lot of money for the play park and it has been put to great use in buying equipment and making repairs.

"We hope everyone enjoys the fun again this year."

Families are encouraged to dress their children up in trick or treat costumes and give them sweets when they find a letter on the scavenger hunt.

Maps cost £2 and sweets will be provided for £1 and all items will be available for sale at the village shop.

All the proceeds will go towards the refurbishment of the park.
