The News and Star, Times and Star and Whitehaven News have come together to ask residents around Cumbria what they think is the best campsite in the county.

The Lake District was named the top staycation destination over the summer months, as two thirds of Brits decided to spend their summer going on domestic holidays rather than risk flying abroad as Covid regulations started to ease.

In no order, the 10 most popular campsites in Cumbria, according to our readers, are:

1) Stonethwaite Farm: next to the high fells with Stonethwaite Beck running through it, the site allows room for 60 pitches. It has cold, running water, toilets, pot wash facilities and reed bed system for waste.

2) Park Foot on Pooley Bridge is family and couples-friendly holiday park. They cater for tents and motorhomes - with and without electric hook up; touring caravans; and self-catering lodges and cottages.

3) Burns Farm, located three miles outside Keswick, has a caravan site that caters for touring caravans, trailer tents, campervans, and small motor homes with up to 16 amps electric. Their campsite caters for small tents, large tents, family tents and school groups with tents.
