Ten young athletes decided to brave the bad weather the county has suffered recently to take part in a junior Parkrun in Keswick.
As the wind and rain fell, the group was split with boys and girls running together, all completing the two-kilometre run.
Nic Wiseman, the event director, highlighted a group of runners from Cockermouth who turn up each week and show fantastic sportsmanship.
He said: “As all boys, they are competitive, but they arrive every Sunday and select which one will come first that day.
“We have three or four of them who attend and they’re only nine or ten, but they’re friendly and respect each other, and it’s nice to see that they take it in turns to decide who is the ‘winner’ for the day.”
The Keswick Parkrun recently celebrated its fourth anniversary and as winter approaches, the runs will continue, with Nic mentioning that the children want to go fast no matter the conditions!
