A candle has been launched which smells like Cleator Moor!
James and Jo Iles, owners of Lakeland Lights Company, have created the new candle and say it "smells like home".
Cleator Moor is home to the couple's workshop where they design and hand pour the candles in their range.
The husband and wife team opted for a scent that reminded them of home - fresh laundry - for the new Cleator Moor- themed candle.
They say it is also a nod to Cleator's historical connection with linen manufacture.
Jo said: "We absolutely love being here. It really feels like home for us. It was our nod to all the lovely locals who have supported us through the pandemic. We just wanted to celebrate that.
"It also ties in with Cleator Moor being awarded the Towns Fund so it's a sign of good things coming to the town."
Jo is originally from Southport and James is from Peterborough but the couple moved to west Cumbria a few years ago after living overseas for more than a decade.
Jo said: "We chose to settle here. We liked the people and the authenticity of the place. There's also cracking landscape on your doorstep. It had a bit of everything."
The company was founded in February 2019 and began operating three months later from the couple's home in Frizington.
As the business grew, production moved to the workshop in Cleator Moor.
Jo said the coronavirus pandemic has had a "massive impact" on the company.
She said: "Before Covid, most of our business was wholesales. We were supplying cafes and gift shops throughout Cumbria.
"Lockdown happened and they all closed so we redeveloped the website and started offering free local delivery.
"We've also had major supply issues."
Other locally inspired candles in the collection include Whitehaven, St Bees, Wasdale and Ennerdale.
Two other new candles have been launched along with Cleator Moor: Grasmere - a modern rose and vanilla blend - and Ullswater - an opulent tonka bean and myrrh combination.
The candles can be purchased directly from www.lakelandlights.co.uk and there is free local delivery to Whitehaven, Cleator Moor, Egremont, Frizington and St Bees.
