A CHILDREN'S charity is looking for 'enthusiastic, kind-hearted and creative people' from in and around Carlisle to join a brand-new team which will help shape its fundraising future across the region.

The NSPCC is looking for volunteers who are able to give up just three hours a month to help guide a new Special Events Committee, which will help rally people together and organise fundraising events in the area in 2022 and beyond.

Sandra Jones is the NSPCC community fundraising manager for Cumbria, and said she is keen to welcome a new and diverse team of volunteers to help the charity support children and young people in the area.

Sandra said: “I’m really excited to be part of the new committee for events in and around Carlisle, and I’m sure there are many knowledgeable, enthusiastic and capable people in the area who would be a perfect fit for the new roles.

“The NSPCC relies on donations from supporters for 90 percent of its funding, and our Special Events Committees across the country play an important part in creating and delivering wonderful fundraising events to help us ensure we can be there to support children.”

Anyone volunteering for the role will be supported by the charity with advice and training on how the fundraising will help to protect children in the area, and Sandra said the committees across the UK had helped create networks of like-minded people.

Sandra said: “As well as growing your own skills and inspiring people to support the NSPCC, the committee is also a great opportunity to spend time with others and make new friends as we move out of the restrictions we’ve seen during the pandemic.

“We’re ideally looking for people who have organised events before, who are passionate about helping children and young people, and who have good communication and organisational skills and knowledge of events in the Carlisle area.

"If that sounds like you or someone you know, I’d love to hear from you and work together to help the NSPCC support children and young people across the region.”
