PLANS have been submitted for the demolition and redevelopment of a stone garage into a recording studio.
Carlisle City Council has received an application for planning permission to build an office and recording studio in the place of a stone garage at Bush Nook.
The farmstead in Gilsland is currently being used as a bed and breakfast alongside domestic accommodation.
Mr Kirby, the applicant said in his Design and Access Statement: "The existing garage block is of stone construction and is currently in need of intervention, consolidation and repair. The existing garage block is not fit for purpose, having a defective modern up and over access door.
"The block is almost detached and currently only linked through to an obsolete pig pen. The garage is situated in the middle of the farmstead surrounded by the other buildings. The garage is currently used for general storage and has no other current use."
"Serious consideration" has been given to the look of the new construction at the design stage to ensure it fits in with the farmstead surroundings.
