A mountain rescue team has warned people to be weary of dramatically changing weather conditions after two hill walkers got caught out in freezing temperatures.
The walkers, who had lost their way whilst ascending Scafell Pike via Broad Crag Col on November 21, required the help of Mountain Rescue as the temperature and light levels dropped.
Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team was called out at about 4.16pm.
The two casualties were then warmed and fuelled before being escorted to safer ground and then back to the valley bottom.
A spokesperson for Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team said: "The air temperature on the hill last night was minus 1 with the wind chill dropping to minus 9.
"Please recognise that the conditions are dramatically changing and very dangerous if not taken seriously."
