A festival celebrating the 1,900-year anniversary of a world-famous historic monument is set to officially launch this week.
The Hadrian's Wall 1900 Festival takes place from January 24 to December 23, 2022 and celebrates the history of the historic wall that marked the northernmost boundary of the Roman Empire.
The official launch of the festival today will see the launch of the new Hadrian's Wall 1900 website, with information on confirmed events for next year.
The festival next year will see hundreds of events and activities taking place across Hadrian’s Wall, from Tyneside in the East , across the centre , through Carlisle and down the Solway coast in the west.
Hadrian's Wall was built during the Roman occupation of Britain in AD 122.
