Teachers across Cumbria are being offered a new year kick start to their careers with fully funded development courses.

Cumbria Education Trust (CET) will be delivering National Professional Qualification (NPQ) courses starting in February.

NPQs are prestigious professional qualifications, widely recognised in the education sector.

They are voluntary and designed to support the professional development of teachers and school leaders in both primary and secondary schools.

CET’s Chief Executive Officer Lorrayne Hughes said: “We want to help teachers and leaders excel in their careers. That’s why we put such high emphasis on professional development for staff and why we are delighted to be offering these opportunities.”

CET, which operates 11 schools across the county, has partnered with Ambition Institute and Three Rivers Teaching School Hub to offer the courses to teaching staff at schools across Cumbria and beyond.

The five NPQ programmes offered are:

  • Leading Behaviour and Culture (NPQLBC)
  • Leading Teaching (NPQLT)
  • Leading Teacher Development (NPQLTD)
  • Senior Leadership (NPQSL) - Headship (NPQH)

This round of NPQs is fully funded for state schools by the Department for Education. The closing date for applications is 8 January with courses starting in February.
