The charity that Wigton man Mark Harding raised nearly £10,000 in aid of has thanked him for his efforts.

Mark walked from his hometown to Carlisle last month, walking with the aid of trekking poles, much like the man on the logo of Walking with the Wounded.

When asked what the money raised will be used for, Mark continued: “We’ve raised just under £10,000 which will help soldiers who suffer from post-traumatic stress and their families. A lot of people don’t realise that the wives who are left behind are the backbone for when we go away for what we need to do. Mental health is such a massive thing and I want to help raise awareness, not just for those who are suffering but for their families.”

James Davis, WWTW Events Manager, commented, “Mark Harding has taken on a phenomenal and inspiring challenge to support WWTW’s ‘Walking Home For Christmas’ campaign. The money he has raised and the support he has received will enable our team to provide critical mental health and employment support for even more veterans and their families. We are grateful that he chose to walk in support of Walking With The Wounded and those who served.”
