FRIENDS and family members of missing Carlisle woman Sophie Burns have taken to social media platforms in a bid to help find the 28-year-old.

Sophie has not been seen since she was reported missing less than four weeks ago, having last been seen on Sunday, December 12.

A group, entitled ‘Help to bring Sophie Burns home safe’ has been created on Facebook and friends of Ms Burns have created the group to request the assistance of Carlisle residents for equipment that can help the search.

People have offered their services, with some offering to print missing posters for the group to place around the city.

A drone company have informed the group that they can provide licenced pilots who can assist.

A TikTok video has also been created in case members of the public spot Sophie when they’re out of the house.

The video contains photos of Sophie as well requests to share the video and get in touch with the police if anyone has any information.

Cumbria Police have dedicated their time searching for Sophie, with extensive searches carried out around the city’s Bitts Park, Sheepmount and surrounding areas.

The police were hoping the public could help by tracing an iPhone, however moderators of the Facebook group informed members that her phone was turned off as news of her disappearance spread.

The investigation has been strategically coordinated by specialist officers and has to date involved numerous actions.

These include searching specific areas, investigating and gathering intelligence, and working with partner agencies and specialist search teams, including dog units.

A spokesperson for Cumbria Police confirmed that Sophie is still missing and the search continues.

Officers are keen to heard from anyone who has seen or heard anything from Sophie, either since she was reported missing or around the time.

Sophie is described as 5ft 3in tall, of slim build with long brown hair. She was last seen wearing black joggers, black hoody, black Berghaus gilet, black Adidas cap and white Nike Air Force 1 trainers.
