A karate group who hold classes in Aspatria have announced that in-person sessions have returned and the waiting list for new starters is now open.
Yokai Kami Karate is a type of martial art that offers a grading system to track personal progression and development.
The grading process follows a structured syllabus (separated by junior/adult expectations) to mark and record the progression within the Karate federation. Once the knowledge and ability of each level is second nature, an assessment of the individual's ability takes place to; formally mark the move to the increased level, state the achievement in the student’s license, and record the qualification with the national bodies.
The instructors have extensive experience of a variety of disorders and learning difficulties and offer shorter lessons to smaller groups. This helps achieve a relaxed and safe environment and to allow each student to flourish, regardless of their obstacles. Safeguarding and basic sign language certificates are held in addition to compliment the necessary safeguarding and equality policies.
Private tuition is also available for those that are conscious, shy or simply prefer to learn on a one-to-one basis.
Classes are run by World and European championship instructors on Monday evenings at Aspatria Community Hall.
The group are also holding free taster sessions. For more information, contact yokaikamikarate@gmail.com or find Yokai Kami Karate on Facebook.
