There are several road closures and works being done across Cumbria this week, beginning February 7, that may cause disruption to your journey.

Data taken from Traffic England shows various closures across the M6, the A66, A595 and the A590.

We’ve listed the active and future roadworks set to affect Cumbria this week.

M6 closures

M6 northbound between junctions J44 and J45 – Emergency barriers are being repaired which will cause disruption until January 13 at 6pm.

M6 southbound between junctions J44 and J42 -Roadworks are planned every day from February 6-7 and February 8-12 between the hours of 5am and 8pm. This will see a lane closure.

M6 southbound between junctions J42 and J41 – A lane will be closed between 10pm on February 7 until 8pm on February 8.

M6 northbound between junctions J39 and J40 – Two lanes will be closed due to roadworks between February 14-15 during the hours 8pm to 6am.

M6 southbound between junctions J40 and J39 – A lane will be closed from 8pm February 6 until 8pm February 11.

M6 northbound between junctions J39 and J40 – Emergency roadside drains are being repaired which will see a lane closed between 8am on February 9 and 5pm February 11.

M6 southbound between junctions J39 and J37 – A lane will be closed from 6am on February 7 until 8pm on February 15 as planned roadworks take place.

M6 southbound between junctions J37 and J35 – Two lanes will be closed from 8pm on February 10 until 6am on February 11.

M6 southbound entry slip at junction J36 – Both lanes will be closed during the following periods:

  • 8pm February 6 – 6am February 6
  • 8pm February 9 – 6am February 11
  • 8pm February 17 – 6am February 18

A66 closures

A66 westbound between the junctions with the A591 north of Keswick and the A5086 – Horticultural works will be undertaken, causing delays in the following periods:

  • 4pm February 6 – 8am February 7
  • 4pm February 7 – 8pm February 11

A66 eastbound between the junctions with the A5086 and the A591 Keswick – Disruption due to emergency roadside drain works should be expected between 8pm February 11 until 5am February 12.

A66 eastbound between the junctions with the A5091 and the A592 - Disruption due to emergency roadside drain works should be expected between 9pm February 11 until 5am February 10.

A595 closures

A595 northbound between the junctions with the A5086 and the A5094 Whitehaven South – Roadworks are planned every day between February 7 – 10 between the hours of 8pm and 6am.

A595 southbound between the junctions with the A5086 and the A5093 Silecroft - Roadworks are planned every day between February 7 – 10 between the hours of 8pm and 6am.

A590 closures

A590 eastbound between the junctions with the A5087 east of Ulverston and the A5092 – Roadworks are planned from 7am on February 7 until 11pm February 11.

A590 westbound between the A5087 west of Ulverston and the junction with the A595 – Roadworks are planned between 8pm on February 2 and 6am July 30.
