LOCAL musician, Brent Hood, who has appeared on BBC Acoustic Sounds, is going back to his punk-pop roots with new album ‘Call Me What You Want.’

After rising through the ranks of the music world, Brent decided to release a new album this year after starting his own production label.

He said: "It’s my first full length release since a 7-song mini album I did back in June 2018.

"It follows the same theme of the punk rock/pop punk kinda stuff I’ve always enjoyed writing and performing.

"I did all the songwriting in my last punk band that split in 2018 so kinda wanted to continue that genre of music when I started doing my own thing again."

The singer song-writer previously had success performing on BBC Sounds then was signed to a London record label, but eventually split from the label.

He said: "I left my manager late that year as I felt she was forcing me to produce music I didn’t like and my heart wasn’t in it anymore.

"I’m not ashamed to say that I was distracted for many years."

In 2017, Brent felt ready to pick the guitar up again and create his own sound and produced the tracks ‘Armchair Epiphany’ and ‘Incapable’ through his own production label, HOLD Recordings.

Brent said: "The only reason I did set up a production/publishing label was because I have my own recording space.

"Not many people have that luxury, so I’m just trying to make the most of it.

"The fact that I can wake up, walk into my home studio and write, record, publish and digitally distribute music is something I thought I’d never be able to do.

News and Star:

"[It's] a one-stop shop. I am open to having other musicians come by and record a song or two if they like.

"I’m always up for helping people with the production and recording bit - that’s my real passion."

Brent Hood’s single ‘Armchair Epiphany’ is out now on all digital platforms. The next single, ‘Small-town Syndrome’ is out April 1 2022.
